8 september - 8 november

Room 13 is an initiative of the Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof, made possible by the Friends of the Fotomuseum Foundation. In Room 13, local photographers exhibit 13 photos to showcase the talent in the region to our visitors. These exhibitions last from 6 to 8 weeks and provide a varied addition to our regular exhibitions. On view from September 8: Guy Houben

Guy Houben lives in Gronsveld. His studio is located in the Fire Department Canteen in Maastricht.
He started taking photographs in 2014 after being introduced to photography during his training
Communication & Multimedia Design at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Maastricht.

Initially his focus was on the vibrant world of illegal raves, nighttime club adventures and
festivals full of life. But this was only the beginning of his career in photography. Over the years it has
he learned about different disciplines within photography and traveled a lot for his work. His current one
passion lies in shaping the culinary scene, weddings, portraits and capturing stories
with humans in the leading role.

In his series “Selected Works” Guy shows a carefully curated collection of his most
favorite photos since 2017. The photos are a mix of digital and analog. His analog images were shot
on 35mm and 120mm film. His images are mainly derived from collaborative creativity
with models. This selection also shows some of the trips he made in his spare time or for work.

Guy's work is also for sale.
