KAMER 13: Laurent Stevens
Kamer 13 is an initiative of Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof, made possible by Stichting Vrienden van het Fotomuseum. In Kamer 13, local photographers exhibit 13 photos to showcase the talent in the region to our visitors. These exhibitions have a duration of 6 to 8 weeks and provide a varied addition during our regular exhibitions.
On view from 11 November: Laurent Stevens
Laurent Stevens started photography at a young age and is hardly seen without a camera. Whether it's at work, during sports or during his travels, he constantly finds and captures the moments that appeal to him – and that in turn appeal to us. With the photo series 'Sereen', he hopes to capture the tenderness that still seeps into a world that is often broken in some places.
Listening to a pond- when ripples of water, murmurs of a fisherman, whistling of wind speak through a photograph. The stillness of nature can overpower the calamities of the mind, and the gentle footsteps of a bird be louder than that of violence
With a society increasingly shaped by an overload of visual stimulants, images have become a new language- one that can inform, cause distress, but also bring comfort and warmth.
Laurent Stevens began photography at a young age and is hardly seen without a camera by his side. No matter during work, sport, or his travels, he ceaselessly finds and captures the moments that speak to him- and in turn- speak to us. With this collection of photographs, he hopes to seize the tenderness which still seeps through a world that often finds itself broken in places.
